SUGAR RUSH

Why oh why is sugar so deliciously addicting?!!! No matter how many times I try to give it up completely, I always end up eating it again and again... and again!

I have always known that too much sugar is bad for the body. But, even with that knowledge, I just seem to forget it whenever I taste it!

It is my drug, my Achilles' heel, my Mount Everest! (okay, I'm overreacting, but you get my drift...)

It's not that I can't resist it. I can actually resist eating it... if I don't see it! (hahaha!) Seriously though, I can resist buying sugary stuff when I'm doing my grocery. But, if it's staring at me straight in the face at home, then it's another story! And that's where I fail... I am surrounded by people who LOVE buying sweet stuff! So, what am I gonna do but eat it, right?

Case in point: (My Latest Addiction)

Darn you Kirkland Chocolates! I first tasted these when a cousin of mine gave it to us years ago. I never really heard of this brand before and I thought it might not taste good and it would be a total waste, which sucks because it is packaged in a big container. But lo and behold, it tastes A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

I never really got over it. It drove me mad because I couldn't find it anywhere else. Unfortunately, it is not sold in our place! I have resigned myself to the fact that I will never taste these delicious chocolate-covered almonds again.

Until one day, I was cruising along a new place, checking out the goodies and BOOM! There they are sitting innocently on a shelf. I couldn't even believe my eyes and I had to double-check with my sister to make sure I wasn't seeing a mirage.

I know they're not the most expensive or exclusive chocolates EVER made. But, truth be told, they taste so much better than more expensive chocolates that I have tasted. Even the so-called superior ones! (I won't name names!)

Tell me, how can you resist this?!!! One bite and I died and then was reborn to eat another bite, until the jar is half empty!

It's not just the chocolates, I think it's the almonds as well. I love both! And studies say that chocolates and almonds make one happier, so I guess it's an added bonus. At least that's what I tell myself when I have eaten a lot of it already. ;-)

But, after all is said and done, I feel that I have eaten my fill of these chocolates. I will never eat them again. I SHOULD STOP EATING THEM! But, that's what I said yesterday and the day before... And, don't even get me started on cakes, cookies and ice cream!

I guess I should just eat more almonds and less chocolates. If I'm gonna eat chocolates, it better be the dark kind with 70% cacao. Or better yet, I should just get my sugar fix from fruits. At least, they're naturally sweet and are good for the body.

                           AVOID THESE!                                                                   EAT THESE!

Let's see what will happen on the morrow...

I'll let you know if I succeed. Wish me luck! :-)

SERENDIPITY

Whenever I try to read books, magazines, newspapers or browse blogs and websites on the internet, and even while watching the telly or films, I always come across messages that really make an impact on me. Even if I wasn't actively searching for these messages, somehow I am drawn to them. That is why I feel that it is my duty to share it to other people so that they can receive the message and pass it along to others as well. So, from time to time I will post messages or quotations that really speak to me. I hope that you'll like them and that you'll share them too.

Anyway, I was reading earlier and came across this message:

"Past pain can be like a virus on the hard drive of your consciousness. Until it is repaired, it will lie dormant, waiting for the right moment to erupt. Make repairs through awareness, prayer and forgiveness."

What a nice message to keep in mind especially when the ghosts of our past seem to shadow our every move...

Okay, hope that helped and until next time...

Ciao! :-)
